Children getting fatter

London (NW): food experts warn against what they call Raiding lesson: When children come home from school to empty houses, raiding the fridge and get in a lot of unhealthy food.

According to Public Health is now one in five 8-9 year old overweight, and there has been a large increase in the last two years.

- Responsibility for the child's diet is in the home. Even when children are home alone, says Elisabeth Skjegstad in the Information Office of fruits and vegetables.

Not least when the children come home from school and SFO they get in a lot of unhealthy.

- We call it plundering class. It is the time from when the children are home alone after school, the parents get home. When hackers in cabinets and drawers for something to eat.

Unhealthy temptations

Much of what children put in their after school are far from healthy.

- There are a lot of sugar bombs like biscuits and ice cream before dinner. Some children will prepare the semi-finished products such as brownies, while others eat noodles. Or they have purchased buns on the way home from school.

This destroys the kids appetite before dinner.

- Such foods also leads to a too high energy consumption. But kids need refills, and parents can make the kitchen looting clearly, encourages Elizabeth Skjegstad.

Now extends tastings with food experts on information office a helping hand to parents.

- Unhealthy temptations must be cleared away, while healthy options made available.

Do a little preparation!

- Have precut fruits in the refrigerator, some carrots and turnips in the sticks that can stand in the water glass. Make like skinny dip that can also be completed.

Slightly older children may want to make cheese sandwiches in the waffle iron, rough or coarse waffles pancakes.

- Do a little preparation, make pancake batter ready, or put clear brown bread, tomato, chopped vegetables and some cheese to cheese sandwiches. We adults can after all do a little of each of the plunder to be healthier, says Elisabeth Skjegstad.

She says the fruit salad, for instance, apple, banana and orange are easy to make. A green salad do not contain more than lettuce leaves, tomato and cucumber.

- Are children used to eating these dishes, it adds the foundation for good eating habits, says Elisabeth Skjegstad in the Information Office of fruits and vegetables.
