Pregnancy Nausea

Many people experience nausea during the first trimester of pregnancy. The degree of nausea can vary greatly from person to person, from the uncomfortable feeling of vomiting. Below is some advice.

• Make sure you drink NOK, small sips.
• Try soups
• Eat small, frequent meals - often before you feel hungry.
Bring something small to eat in case the need should arise.
• Some think it's good to eat something before they get out of bed in the morning.
• Know what is good for you to eat
• Rest NOK
• Avoid stress. Be kind to yourself and pay attention to your situation.
• Fresh air
• Smell of peppermint oil
• Or try drinking peppermint tea (maximum two cups per day)
• Ginger may help some.
Make ginger tea (up to 3 cups per day) and add perhaps a little honey.
Or buy a herbal remedy at the pharmacy consisting of ginger and peppermint. • Acupressure. A number of studies have shown that acupuncture and acupressure help relieve nausea. You can try to buy Sea Bands from the pharmacy / health food store. Sea Band is a akupressurarmbånd placed on your forearm according to the user manual provided. Health and Social Affairs recommends the use of acupressure for pregnancy nausea (www.shdir.no - Guidelines for antenatal care).

There are several acupuncture points which may be appropriate to use acupressure on, but you must visit the clinic first. • Acupuncture. Several studies ( see below) shows that acupuncture is useful for morning sickness. Depending on the degree of nausea, I can recommend treatment 1-2 times a week for 2 weeks and then as needed. In an Australian survey Fri a 2002 they looked at the effects of nausea and vomiting, and acupuncture. 593 women who were suffering from nausea and vomiting in pregnancy were treated weekly for 20 minutes. Already after the first treatment was the symptoms of nausea clearly reduced and the problem of vomiting was reduced in week number two. Acupuncture to treat nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy: a randomized trial. Birth.2002, Mar: 29 (1) :1-9. Be attentive to consult your doctor if your symptoms are strong and if you suspect that you are getting enough fluid.
